have me and my mom's support all the way. Even though we
are not in California any- more, we know that you can make a

your fantastic school, there would have been no way in the
world I would have been able to get into Florida A & M
University in Tallahassee. It's a Historically Black College...

My daughter just entered the 6th grade this fall, and it
brought back memories of my 6th grade year. It was really
scary and awkward for me, being my first year in public
school and my first year out in the real world outside of the
Nation of Islam world. I truly believe that you were the best
teacher I could've had. I remember having alot of trouble
with math and you were really patient with me. You also
knew who and what would help bring me out of my shell.
Although if given the chance I would never redo the 6th
grade, I can say it was a positive experience because you
were my teacher and I just want to thank you for that :o)

I will no longer have to worry about the hardships I face

afraid of walking to the near rec. by my home in fear of
being shot by stupidity and ignorance. You are the definition

If you missed last night's meeting, then you missed a frank
discussion on the problems that plague the streets of
Oakland. You also missed Dr. Candell's proposals for
solving these problems. ‘Strategies for cutting the pork from
the budget... and stopping wasteful spending. Strategies for
making Oakland more attractive to the corporate sector and
developing businesses which create jobs. Strategies for
making our streets safer for our citizens. Strategies for
embracing our youth and providing them with alternatives
after school. These ideas are innovative and refreshing. With
Dr. Candell's leadership, we can stop the 'business-as-usual'
approach which got us into this mess in the first place and
obtain real leadership with real solutions.
